Nightlife on Mars presents our “More Women Comics Than Usual” Special!
Our guests for our 8/14 show includes:
Mary Van Note - Mary Van Note is a comedian of the weird variety. She is the creator and star of the award-winning Independent Film Channel web series The Mary Van Note Show: Gavin Really Wants Me. She is a SF Weekly Masterminds grant recipient, a seven-time SF Sketchfest performer, and an Andy Kaufman Award Semi-Finalist. The San Francisco Bay Guardian called her a “Zine-Queen Comedian” as she regularly makes zines, crafts and mini-comics. Her specialties are stick-figures and cross-stitch.
Kelly Anneken - Kelly Anneken is what happens when Kim Kardashian looks like Bette Midler and tweets like Roseanne. This Oakland-based funny person and all-around swell gal performs standup comedy at clubs and dive bars, including the SF Punchline, Cobb’s, Crackers, and Go Bananas. Kelly has appeared at Iowa’s Green Gravel Comedy Festival and Boston’s Women in Comedy Festival. She has shared a stage with Jim Gaffigan and Anthony Jeselnik at Austin’s Moontower Comedy Festival and has appeared “in conversation” with Tig Notaro, Amy Schumer, and John Waters. Kelly is well-known as the co-host of the internationally popular Downton Abbey podcast “Up Yours, Downstairs” and official third chair of Game of Thrones recap “Boars, Gore & Swords.”  She is also artistic director for feminist sketch troupe Femikaze.
Cheryl White - Cheryl White hails from the wilds of Humboldt County: amid the marijuana-growers and rifle-armed mountain men, Cheryl upheld the virtues of civilization by teaching English to high school students. She is a mother, a widow, an ex-wife, a friend and a lover of all things expensive and sardonic. Her perspective is eclectic: once a teacher, a bartender, a phone psychic, and a yachtie, Cheryl is a bountiful blonde with can’t miss jokes. Since coming to the Bay Area, comedy venues have been left stunned—or mildly pleased—by her insightful, sharp humor. Jokes range from sassy commentary on the unlikely reality of dating to whimsical observations of her own and others’ foibles. She is excited to be performing currently on the west coast in San Francisco and Los Angeles!
Matt Gubser - With his mellow personality and razor sharp wit, Matt’s comedy relentlessly challenges a spectrum of social conventions including politics, organized religion, issues of all shapes and sizes, and recounts the absurdities of his experiences parenting, dating and aging. Also dick jokes. Matt has performed at clubs and comedy festivals across the western US, including SF Sketchfest, the Sacramento Comedy Festival, S.H.I.T.S. and Giggles Comedy Festival, & Santa Cruz Fringe Fest.  He is part of the Ha Ha Heathens Comedy Tour and co-produces “It’s Just Two Minutes,” a monthly comedy show in San Francisco.
Kevin Whittinghill - Though he’s still new to the comedy scene, KG has shared his dark and playful wit with audiences throughout the country. Just this year you may have seen him performing at LA’s Scripted Comedy Festival and the Laughing Devil Comedy Festival in NYC. He likes bananas.
And more!

Draft beers are $1 off during our shows, and Murphy’s has an awesome selection! Show takes place in a private room in the lower level of Murphy’s Pub, 217 Kearny St (b/t Sutter and Bush).
