Winner of the San Francisco International Comedy Competition, Michael Pritchard’s sensational standup comedy has billed him with Robin Williams, Jerry Seinfeld, Dana Carvey and Whoopi Goldberg and has earned him a guest appearance on an Emmy Award winning episode of “Taxi”.[period] Michael has performed on venues like Caesar’s, the Comedy Store, Universal Amphitheater and opened for such names as Diana Ross, the Grateful Dead, Kenny Rogers, Mike Mc Donald and Boz Scaggs. His style is a rare combination of humor and pathos. Michael Pritchard has been featured on CNN, NBC’s ”The Today Show,” and “The Tonight Show,” CBS “Sunday Morning” with Charles Kuralt, Time, People and many local media outlets. He has done countless voices for featured films, including the Ewoks in Star Wars and Sesame Street. He was also featured in Happy, a documentary, which premiered this year at the Roxie Theatre in San Francisco.
In addition to his work as a stand-up comedian, Michael Pritchard is also a youth guidance motivator keynote speaker who travels around the United States trying to quash bullying and cruelty through cartoon-style antics mixed with heartfelt messages of acceptance. “God teaches us it’s not the package we arrive in on the planet, it’s the product that’s inside,” said Pritchard, who gives humor-laced talks on bullying, violence, communication and other social issues. He has hosted 11 Public Broadcasting series to educate kids on such issues as bullying, anti-violence and the power of choice.
Pritchard recently received a federal grant to work with hospice and cancer patients, who also benefit from his humor and love of life. He believes everyone has the ability to make people laugh. “By activating the endorphins, people can even heal themselves. Laughter revitalizes the human spirit!” Pritchard knows many celebrities and recently attended Robin Williams’ 60th birthday party. Someone once asked Williams, “Who is Michael Pritchard?” and Williams replied, “If Mother Theresa had a child with Jesse Ventura. That’s Michael Pritchard.”
