3/30. I’m Getting Too Big For This w/ Amir Malekpour @ Big Umbrella Studios. 906.5 Divisidero St. SF. 7:30PM. $5 Donation.
After performing comedy for five years at clubs, colleges, and venues throughout the Bay Area (San Francisco Punchline, Cobbs, Improv, UC Berkley, Stanford), Amir Malekpour took a two-year break from comedy to concentrate on his health and develop new insights into what he thinks is funny.
During his hiatus, Amir lost 210 pounds, gained a renewed love for comedy, and refocused his vision for his Standup. The result, “I’m Getting Too Big For This,” marks Amir’s return to the world of comedy and showcases all new material inspired by his two-year journey.
Since its debut in fall 2012, his new show features comedy that evolves organically between each monthly showcase. In addition, “I’m Getting Too Big For This,” highlights some of Amir’s favorite progressive and original comedians. Before and after every show, the audience is encouraged to check out host venue Big Umbrella Studios’ amazing artwork and mingle with the performers.

From a show I’m part of later this month. Graphic work done by Jack Kirby and Amir Malekpour. Kirby would be proud. And for the record - if I had to choose which member of the Fantastic Four I’d want to be, I would choose The Thing. Or The Invisible Woman…but don’t tell anybody.
Mission Comics is a great place to do a show, and it’s a great place to see me telling jokes about comic books that are too nerdy to fit in my normal set. I’m currently in negotiations about whether I have to wear the Invisible Woman’s outfit, as pictured above.
