12/22,23&25. 20th Anniversary of Kung Pao Kosher Comedy @ New Asia Restaurant. 772 Pacific St. SF. $44-$64. Featuring Judy Gold, Scott Blakeman, Mike Capozzola and Lisa Geduldig. Tickets/Information Available: Here.

Kung Pao Kosher Comedy™ is celebrating its 20th anniversary with the return of headliner, Judy Gold. In October of 1993, then 31 year old San Francisco-based Jewish comedian and New York transplant, Lisa Geduldig, had an epiphany that would solve a worldwide dilemma and answer the age-old question, “What are Jews supposed to do on Christmas?” She found herself telling Jewish jokes at The Peking Garden Club in South Hadley, MA at what she thought was going to be a comedy club but ended up being a Chinese restaurant, which she discovered upon her arrival. A phone conversation with an old friend from Jewish summer camp about the irony of telling Jewish jokes at a Chinese restaurant led to the idea of Jewish comedy on Christmas in a Chinese restaurant, and brainstorming Jewish, comedy, and Chinese food-related words led to the coining of Kung Pao Kosher Comedy.
