The Field Negro Guide to Arts and Culture w/ W. Kamau Bell and Vernon Reid - Episode 12 - Hannibal Buress
Vernon is away this week and he’s sure gonna be mad he missed this one. Kamau is in Portland, OR and sits down with scorching hot comedian, Hannibal Buress. Hannibal has been feted in all the hip-making mags like Rolling Stone, Esquire, Variety, and Entertainment Weekly. And he has been called, “The funniest young comic I’ve seen in years.” by none other than Chris Rock. Kamau and Hannibal have some comedian shoptalk, talk about Hannibal’s brief writing career on Saturday Night Live and his hopefully soon to be longer writing career on 30 Rock. And in the grand tradition of FNGTAC they of course have a meta discussion about Hannibal’s self-esteem and whether or not he’s being type cast. Hannibal also breaks a brand new genre or YouTube vdeos. Watch out MMA!

[SF90S’ Marc Maron talks to Chicago’s Hannibal Buress about writing for television, performing stand-up on talk shows and sleeping on trains. Buress is a living Jay Electronica song.]
As noted before, it is my birthday. Thanks to Gborie, Holmgren and Keith D for writing such kind words. I’m celebrating by posting a non sequitur video, one of my favorite sets from one of my favorite comedians: Hannibal Buress.

Black History Perspectives: Hannibal Buress
[It’s black history month. I just remembered that I have a blog and a lot of black comedians that I enjoy. Some are well known, others are burgeoning. Regardless of their proximity to San Francisco, they’re important to the growth of the African American image and cultural perspective. For the month of February I’ll be highlighting these funny brothers and sisters in this tag.]
