Walk the Plank Comedy Contest, Spanning Walnut Creek, San Francisco, and San Jose, Begins Next Week
Walk The Plank Comedy Competition Returns This October, $300 Grand Prize, Registration Now Available.
[There’s three legitimate comedy competitions in the Bay Area. There’s the San Francisco Comedy Competition, a veritable marathon of a crushed emotions, where comics of a certain level, feel a certain level of rejection. Then, there’s Bunjo’s Comedy Competition, centrally located in Dublin/Pleasanton, a rite of passage for bringers to battle bringers and eat Chinese food. Then, there’s the Walk the Plank competition. Formerly housed at Castagnola’s Wharf Room (PIRATES, DO YOU GET IT!), Walk the Plank always felt more honest and legitimate than any other competition I’ve seen. Maybe because there’s a sense of camaraderie, or a balanced scoring system, or an a pedigree of great champions. Alas, it returns after a brief hiatus and the gates are wide open. If you’ve never participated before, get on it: good stage time for an excited audience in a fair, fun affair.]

On Friday, I’m performing at The 4th Wall for the Walk the Plank Competition. Translation: PIZZA PARTY! Let me explain. Winner of the competition wins a nice sum of money and I vow to use a portion (if not all!) of the prize money to the Stomach Charity of You (it’s a nom-nom-nom profit)
I’m funny. That’s swell and dandy, but competitions aren’t just about being funny, it’s about support. I’m Bay Raised, Berkeley is my second (or third) home, and there’s a seal on the flier. I’d really appreciate you coming to help me win (or if sabotage is your thing, so be it). I’m keeping tabs on who is coming out to support and extra slices will be slid your way if I take the ultimate prize.
WHO LOVES PIZZA?! WHO IN HERE IS A NINJA TURTLE?! HERE’S YOUR CHANCE TO PROVE IT!
[Show Info: 11/18. The 4th Wall. 1027 University Ave. Berkeley. $15. 8 PM (Show up on time to be able to vote). Advanced Tickets: Here. Free CD with admission (your friends will think you’re very cool, EVEN IF YOU AREN’T!)]
