Courting Sketchfest: The Meltdown.

On January 30, 2010 Cobb’s Comedy Club will be hosting a showcase entitled: The Meltdown. The main features of this showcases are comedians Jonah Ray and Kumail Nanjiani who curate the show in the back of a Los Angeles comic book store. Recently on Jonah’s podcast, the Nerdist (also featuring Chris Hardwick and Matt Mira), the Meltdown was recorded with performances by Kumail, Jonah, Chris, Kyle Kinane, Matt Braunger, Chris Fairbanks and others. Most of these performers will not be at the 1/30 Cobb’s show but will be featured in Sketchfest in other capacities. None the less, the Meltdown made for a good podcast and is one of the more anticipated shows at this year’s Sketchfest. The line up for Sketchfest includes Doug Benson, Greg Proops, Thomas Lennon and more. The Nerdist will also be recording/performing a show at Sketchfest on 1/28, also at Cobb’s. Check it out.
With SF Sketchfest right around the bend, let’s take time to observe one of the more intimate and long-running programs in the line-up: The Sketchfest Dozen. Basically the shows are stand up showcases of two (out of 12) performers whom are extremely talented and overwhelmingly promising. Alongside the Dozen are some of San Francisco’s luminary comedians providing hosting support. All in all, the shows serve to highlight the some of the best soon to breakthrough comedic artists.
