I full-heartedly support this campaign. These people have opened my eyes to the beauty of Northest California, all the while accommodating my degeneracy. Savage Henry have a piece of my heart and I want everybody to know, share, and give what they can. Can they raise $10,000 in 5 Days? Only if YOU believe… (and contribute)!

When we started Savage Henry in 2010, we had no idea of the amazing reception we would receive. We started with 1,000 copies and a “We’ll see if this works” kind of attitude. We had no seed money, and no business loan. To print the first issue, we found enough advertisers to pitch in without ever having seen an issue. Four years later, we are now printing 14,000 copies that are distributed regularly along the west coast from Portland to Los Angeles. Our subscribers span the country, and our podcast listeners hail from around the world as far as Germany and South Korea. We have done our best to pace our growth while keeping our advertising rates competitive and fair all while keeping Savage Henry a free publication.

We love writing comedy, we love bringing comedians to Humboldt County to perform, and we feel honored that you would bring our brand of low-brow, crass humor into your homes. It’s the proudest thing any of us here on the staff have ever done.

Now we need your help. It’s time to take this to the next step and with your support we can do it. We’re introducing the Free Savage Henry campaign. We challenge our readership to donate $1 (or more). If just one dollar were donated to Savage Henry from every reader, we would have the seed money we need to reach our goals.

If you don’t want to use the Internet to pay, send your check or money order to 791 8th St. Suite N, Arcata, CA 95521. We’ll donate the money in your name so you can still bask in the glory that is donating to the Free Savage Henry Magazine.

Thursday-Saturday, The S.H.I.T.s & Giggles Comedy Festival Happens In Humboldt County. $20 All Access Pass.

[Don’t know how many CC fans I have in Humboldt county, but myself, a slew of San Francisco Bay Area comedians, and  outliers from Los Angeles, Portland, Seattle and Humboldt proper, will be performing in a three day extravaganza. It’s a young, thriving scene with enduring culture, and smart decision-makers: basically it’s the ultimate comedy getaway. Check back on Courting Comedy for updates. See you on the other side.]

There’s a Comedy Festival in Humboldt Happening Right Now

thecomedybureau:

Somehow, The Shits & Giggles Comedy Festival slipped under our radar and kicked off last night with Kyle Kinane headlining. Put on by the Hummingbird Healing Center and humor mag Savage Henry Independent Times in Humboldt, CA, there’s still two nights to go with plenty of shows featuring some wonderful California comedy with Howard Kremer, Alex Koll, Nick Rutherford, Cornell Reid, Barbara Gray, Sean Green, Paul Danke, and more.

All of this for only $25.
