6/1. Sylvan Productions Presents Pertinent! The Comedy Show @ Sub/Mission. 2183 Mission St. SF. 9PM. $10.
Based on the wildly successful game/sketch “Parliamentary Debate” (a la Open Improv fame), Pertinent! Is a hilarious debate show where two teams of specialists, each experts in their individual fields of study and work (aka comedians), debate today’s most pressing and pertinent issues (audience suggestions). It’s an expanded version of the game you’ve come to know and love, with more evidence, witnesses, and judicial jargon than you could shake a stick at!
5/1. Tuesdays Are Jillarious [Mother] @ Tommy T’s Showroom. 1000 Van Ness. SF. $10. 7:30PM. Featuring Heather Gold, Dhaya Lakshminarayanan, Anita Drieseberg, Dave Deluca, Rebecca Arthur, Gina Ritter, Danny Dechi and Susan Maletta. Hosted by Jill Bourque. Free Tickets Available: Here.
Exciting news! We’ve tweaked the Jillarious format. Now we have a new theme each week with both stories and stand-up. Plus, we’re recording each show for a podcast. And just like in my interview-improv show How We First Met, we’ll hear audience stories (based on that week’s theme) and improvise them on the spot.
This show is lousy with pure talent! Things heat up when Heather Gold and her Jewish mother go on a hot air balloon ride. In a world of lypo and Photoshop, Dhaya Lakshminarayanan’s Indian immigrant mother believes being called fat is a compliment. Anita Drieseberg’s 86 year old German-Catholic mother says the darndest things! With more mama-themed stories and stand-up by Dave DeLuca, Rebecca Arthur, Gina Ritter, Danny Dechi, and Susan Maletta. Plus improvised audience stories. Hosted by Jill Bourque.
4/28. jericho! Comedy Presents: “Jon Williams & Friends”. Wurster Auditorium. UC Berkeley. $3. 8PM.

4/18. Michael Bossier & The Masters of Improv @ George’s Nightclub. 842 Fourth St. San Rafael. $10-$15. 8:30pm. Featuring Johnny Steele, Geoff Bolt, Michael O’Brien, Susan Elliot and Marc Hershon.
Comedy Improv is one of the hardest forms of comedy to be skilled in. It’s a mixture of improvisation, stand-up, scene-work, theatre games and body work. It takes an agile brain, quick, smartly funny verbal repartee, teamwork between the performers and an ability to be physically reactive to developing scenes spontaneously. Comedian and Improv Master Michael Bossier has assembled a team of Improv Giants to entertain the audience at George’s Comedy Wednesday! Michael stated in an interview about what inspires him; “Find, as an informed comic, the truth amid the noise and to remind, as many as possible, that the air is getting thin.”
Michael’s credits include being director and founder of The Comedy Store Players, Spaghetti Jam and Comedy Underground. Bossier is currently performing with Debi Durst in the comedy team Deb & Mike and also teaches Improvisational Comedy at SF State. Michael has studied Improvisation for over forty years with such giants as Viola Spolin from Second City, Del Close of The Committee Theatre, Paul Sills of Story Theatre and Stephen Book from the Spolin Games Institute.
