"I wanted a way to combine a couple of my favorite things; fashion and comedy. I looked around at some fellow performers and thought, hey, I’m not alone in being excited to dress up to perform,” says producer/host Mary Van Note, “I ask each performer to wear their favorite outfit, and they’ll be brought on stage with details on what they’re wearing like a fashion show. When you think about it, some of the comedy greats have such iconic style; think Bill Cosby’s sweater or Woody Allen’s glasses, Eddie Murphy’s red leather suit or Phyllis Diller’s feathers. Style has always been a part of comedy, just not as noticed, and Comedy Stylings is a way to celebrate the jokes and the style.” In addition to great comedy each show features costume changes, a vintage pop-up shop and a makeover. That’s a lot of fun to be happening in a basement of a video store in the Mission.

Laughspin.Com called CEFF “…One of my favorite comedy shows I’ve ever taken in. Period.”
[There’s so many things that make this show a no-brainer to go to. For starters, it has assembled some of the greatest perspectives/voices of the Bay Area’s comedy community: everyone is coming with a very skilled, very defined style. Secondly, I don’t know the outcome of January’s Sketchfest shows but LAST YEAR, two amazing champions were crowned with David Gborie and Sean Keane (whom will do battle at this event). Thirdly, the absurdity of so much filth is extremely cathartic. Fourthly, just fucking go.]
Episode 28: “HIGHER” FNFS LIVE with Ivan Hernandez, George Chen, and Sean Keane
Professors Dave Child and Julia Prescott spent 4/20 up in San Francisco at Lost Weekend Video to talk about films that relate to the theme: “HIGHER.” Dave and Julia discussed the Monkees’ “HEAD” and The Red Elvis’s “Six-String Samurai” and their guests each brought something different to the table. Ivan Hernandez (of the podcast: BOARS, GORE, and SWORDS) made us experience “Altered States” while George Chen (The Cynic Cave) descended “Jacob’s Ladder” and Sean Keane (The Business) finished it off with “TipToes.” Let us take you higher, its Friday Night Film School!
