Jonathan Winters, 87, passed away today (4/12/2013)
Jonathan Winters had a storied relationship with San Francisco. He’s one of the pillars of the 1960s movement, moving art and culture forward from North Beach basements. His uncanny ability to morph and manifest a litany of characters, all at once, is the paragon of “peopling a stage”. The stories of his sometimes erratic behavior are legendary (and the disputes on their validity are also legendary). Jonathan Winters should be more widely know, studied, and understood as a undisputed genius. Rest in Peace, Good Sir.
