Mary Van Note headlines the Purple Onion this Saturday!
The Purple Onion has been an icon in the history of San Francisco for over fifty years. In the 1950′s and 1960′s, this cellar nightclub was vital to the legendary stand-up scene in North Beach. Such legends as Phyllis Diller and the Smothers Brothers got their start here, and comedy luminaries like Woody Allen, Richard Pryor, and Lenny Bruce performed here as well.
Mary Van Note. Dave “T-Bone” Thomason. Loren Kraut. Lovely people in a lovely room doing lovely comedy. I’d love to go but I’m poor. But if you’re not broke (you socs [Outsider reference]), YOU SHOULD CHECK IT OUT!

The only way this show could be snobbier is if it was spelled “Snob Theatre”. It would lose snobery if it was spelled “$NOB Th3@t3R”. But check it out, went last time and my friend fell in love with Coree Spencer. Dave, Miles, bands; I might be there (but… L.A. Riots is in town…)
