Product Review: “50 Shades of Greg”

image

Greg Asdourian amuses himself. Every allusion or gotcha elicits an understated chortle. Whether apart of an audience’s flurry, or a solitary, trepid chuckle, Greg has a finger on the pulse…Greg’s pulse. It’s hard to describe: “jolly” is banal hack; “smug” is harshly critical; “cocksure” is too presumptuous of motives and mentality. There it is again. A hushed, appreciative assurance.

[SO SHORT! 4 MINUTES! It’s Punk Rock Podcasting]

"Insomnia" by Jason Downs. Album: Excessive Talking. Year: 2014. Recorded Live at the San Francisco Punch Line. Publisher: RooftopComedy

[I’m digging this album by Jason Downs. He’s real, red-blooded and accented well written asides inside his solid storytelling. For all the featured flavors of SF weirdness, this community produces some of the best salt of the earth, brick wall, universally funny comedy.]

Sheng Wang will record his comedy album here Feb 19-22! #sanfrancisco #nottobemissed #415

[Sheng Wang should be way more famous. He’s already talented, respected, admired, credited and as close as one could get to being truly original. Still, despite all these things, I don’t hear enough casual praise, I don’t see enough t-shirts, I don’t feel that Sheng Wang is the cultural force he could be. Sure, some people can coax as the baddest muthafucka whose been stepped on twice (see: Robert Hawkins) but I’m personally looking forward to this album recording, one more step on the road to immortality.]

Favorite Things of Last Night: Sara Schaefer @ Verdi Club

[The multi-talented Sara Schaefer has been ubiquitous throughout the collective internet unconsciousness for a few years now. Dope podcast. Dope television show. Still, all the prestige in the world considered, Sara really shines as a stand-up comedian. Last night she riffed on her shadow, imagining it behaving asynchronously (i.e. suicide, dropping and popping it), complete with actouts and absolutely killed! Sara Schaefer is too cool, and I highly recommend you check her out tonight at the Punchline (9:15PM) because stars like her only shoot over the Bay every once in a while.
