Tonight. James Fluty Farewell Show @ Dark Room Theater. 2263 Mission St. SF. 10pm. $5–$8. Featuring Samson Koletkar and Trevor Hill. Tickets Available: Here.

James Fluty and Trevor Hill present Hand to Mouth: a monthly, topic-based comedy show where each edition explores a specific social, cultural or political issue. One show, one topic.
On September 6th, we will be forgoing our usual format in order to bid adieu to the beloved comedian/writer/hero James Fluty. Sadly, the co-creator and co-producer of Hand to Mouth will soon be leaving for the faraway land of Pittsburgh, PA. Happily, he will be recording a live album at this show to commemorate his many hilarious years in San Francisco. So come one, come all, let’s send him off in style.

Also featuring comedian Samson Koletkar. Hosted by Trevor Hill.

[Hand to Mouth Comedy is a unique fish in the bastion of creativity known as the City by the Bay. Most comedy shows purport primed performers providing pristine proclamations promoted by practice. Hand to Mouth toss it all out of the window. The thematic stand-up confluence guarantees freshness: acts shelved in lieu of new material – sometimes of atypical trajectory — to say succinctly what may never be said again. A thrilling challenge, a platform for enlightenment, a break from the norm, Hand to Mouth crystallizes the experimental, unearthing new gems along the way.]

7/11. The Barry Sobel Skype Birthday Show @ Dark Room Theater. 2263 Mission St. SF. 10PM. Featuring Chris Fairbanks*, Myq Kaplan*, Brandon Wardell*, Jeremy Talamantes, David Studebaker, Trevor Hill, Dro Know, Danny Dechi and more. Hosted by “Birthday Boy” Barry Sobel. (*Appearance via Skype)

Sobel, host of "The 3 Minute Talk Show", produced by Tom Hanks and currently seen on Hulu, will be performing as well as introducing his favorite comedians dropping in via Skype live during the show.
Barry, “Its gonna be like a Fake TV Taping/Play/Skype and Stand UP- Birthday Party-Awards Show.”
Scheduled to appear..
From NYC - Myq Kaplan ( Conan, Letterman )
From DC - Comedy Powerhouse and Festival Darling Brandon Wardell
From LA - Chris Fairbanks ( Fuel TV )
Along with SF upstarts Jeremy Talamantes, David Studebaker, and Trevor Hill performing in house.
During his recent stay back in the Bay, Barry has been embraced by a new era of comedians, many of whom will be making cameo drop

ins during the show. Dro Knows, Mean Dave, Danny Dechi and many more will be rounding out an insane line-up of comedy, all for only $5 bucks in advance ($7 at the door). And did we mention it’s a birthday party as well?!

[Barry Sobel has been making waves in the Bay Area for the last few weeks, to the adoration or chagrin of entire community, which is ironic due to his instrumental splash three decades ago. The 80s, where acts were fast and loose, persona was pristine and comedy was almost an organized criminal racket. It’s very rare to see an elder statesman from that time. When the bottom dropped out of the business people either returned to being ultra famous, abandoned home for greener pastures, did a complete career about face, dropped the habit all together or dropped into the ground. RARE, to see a comedian 100% committed, hungry, aching with independent moxie and enigmatic charisma. Additionally, comedian parties — birthdays, going-aways, key — are the definition of high fructose powder kegs as everyone gets drunk and feuds bubble over. So basically, this is a one-of-a-kind event that postscript anecdotes will fail to match its magic. Check the video below for a taste of Sobel’s brand of revelry]
